Online Experiments as Science Communication
What do research participants think about science?
Have you ever participated in an online survey or experiment? A huge amount of behavioral research these days comes from studies launched on MTurk, Prolific, and other online platforms. But, what is the experience like for participants? Are they treated fairly? Do they learn anything about research? As the most direct way many people engage in the scientific process, how can we ensure that engagement is a positive one?
The goal of this project is to understand, and improve, the engagements that people have with online research. What is the experience like for online crowd workers? What do they consider fair compensation? What questions do they have after taking part in a study? How can we use this as an avenue to build better relationships between public(s) and the scientific enterprise?
