Simulating online news selection
How can we synthesize research to simulate social media ecosystems, and predict how people decide what to read?
There's a lot of scholarship out there about how people decide to read, like, comment, or share the news and social media. However, this is a really complex process, with dozens of factors playing into people's decisions about how to engage with the news. To effectively synthesize all this research, we're conducting a systematic literature review to a) identify what those factors are, b) examine when and how those factors influence people's engagement with the news on social media, and c) use the existing literature to develop simulation models of online news environments.
